We had decided to take a very slow four day trip up the West Coast. We started with some ‘flying’ at Hillcrest Quarry just outside of Cape Town, after which we indulged in a bit of fishing at Dassen Island near Yzerfontein, and then spent a lovely two days up at Lamberts Bay where we played in the waves and helped out the bodyboarders at the Kumba West Coast Classic.

After doing some final checks we left Cape Town on Thursday morning and headed off on the N7 to Hillcrest Quarry, which is about a 20-minute drive. Hillcrest is a beautiful setting situated in the Durbanville Wine Valley and is a perfect place to spend the day with family and friends or to go to one of their famous music festivals and parties. In early summer after the winter rains there is a section that is totally surrounded by water which provides the perfect stage setting for bands or a dance floor. Hillcrest also offers some fresh water fishing and the guys from Dirty Habits always put on a show of wakeboarding with their cable setup.
