Matti Buys is riding the crest of a wave at the moment with his supreme wakeskating abilities. He is part of the Skullcandy and Fox Head South Africa teams and flits between the US and South Africa honing his skills and living the dream.

DVN: This is not the first time you are headed to the States, but it still must be something you look forward to each year?
MB: I do! This is my fourth year back and every year I end up doing something new. The first two years I stayed in Florida, but on the last two trips I managed to go to Texas and San Diego for short periods of time. This year I used Austin as my base and just travel from there with Andrew Roehm, meeting new people and learning a whole lot more about my discipline. I am definitely blessed to have the support I have, along with great sponsors and the opportunity to do this.
